Plug Search 4 Version 4.1.43 Released

Every day I open the Mac App Store, hoping for one thing.

A Logic Pro update, and guess what nothing, notta, zilch.

Logic Pro was last updated by Apple with the release of 10.8.1 on November 30th 2023.

With some new features even. The features power users wanted? Debatable at best. But hopefully moving in the right direction, sorta….

See Logic Pro for Mac release notes

That’s about five months to date without a single point up date for Logic Pro.

The initial 10.8 release was made ready in early November 2023, filled with bugs of course.

Some people loved the update.

Logic Pro 10.8 – 10 More Reasons to Love This Update!

Myself included in that camp. I’ll take any Logic Pro update I can get, bugs, quirks and all. Most of the time things improve. Every now and then we have a bundler like the release of Logic 10.7.8 which made using multi timbral plugins like Omnisphere and Battery 4 within Logic Pro unusable. See Logic Not Recording MIDI on Aux Channels.

Things I really like in Logic 10.8.1 on my M1 Max system are the improved audio waveform views, better Native Apple Silicon support, Cleaner UI, Flat Icons, Stabler Sessions. Things I don’t like offline export not supported with AUv3 Vienna Ensemble Pro instances. No 24 hour timelines, lackluster video playback support as always.

Other reviewers we’re more mixed in their reactions:

Apple release Logic Pro 10.8 for Mac & Logic Pro 1.1 for iPad

“However, I think most Logic Pro users will concede the most important change in Logic Pro 10.8 is that the Record buttons for Software Instrument and External MIDI Tracks now blink when manually armed, just like they always have for Audio Tracks. Although, joking aside, you have to admire the fact somebody at Apple actually thought about this.” – Mark Wherry

As I wrote last week in my post Plug Search 4 For Logic Pro Released:

“one third party developer has provided a lifeline to Logic Pro functionality falling behind competing DAWs such as Cubase Pro 13, Pro Tools Ultimate, and Ableton 12 Suite. Introducing Plug Search 4 by Speaker Food. This third party add on for Logic Pro on Mac will change your music production life.”

This third party developer has released his first update, version 4.1.43, for Plug Search 4 available directly in app for users who have already purchased Plug Search 4.

The following fixes are included at no charge:

Version 4.1.43
New
– Plug-In key commands can now use the Shift key as modifier
Fixes
– Changing the Quick Key for ‘Search Tracks’ and ‘Search Articulation Set’ now works as expected
– The Search Tracks Quick Key now works as expected for all Logic Pro languages
– Fixes an issue where PlugSearch would unexpectedly quit when receiving MIDI controller messages
– Plug-In key commands with the option key now work as expected
– Fixes an issue when searching and replacing Sends with the custom key command
– The 1/0 Labels Manager now works as expected when the Logic Pro language is Japanese
– Custom Articulation Sets with Poly Pressure switches now work as expected
– The Quick Key now works as expected for occupied Send slots when the Logic Pro language is German

Now if only we could get the Logic Pro dev team to push updates once a month or hell once a week like Speakerfood. Logic Pro could be the industry standard DAW.
