I frequently write about topics close to my heart: Apple hardware, and software, Logic Pro, plugins, workflows, templates, and music releases that I find interesting.
The blog/read portion of my website is heavily influenced by my tech heroes over at The Verge, Daring Fireball, and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, among countless others.
I enjoy writing about music production, new product releases, and my experiences using the various hardware, software, and instrument tools we use to craft music day in and day out.
TESTIMONIALS
“Music is an integral part of a film project, setting the tone, enhancing emotions, and immersing the audience in the story in ways that visuals alone cannot achieve. I remember the day I asked Ian if he wanted to collaborate on a project I was working on. Fortunately, he didn’t hesitate to say yes. That was the beginning of our journey–one project after another, building something special together. Ian’s music doesn’t just accompany the story–it breathes life into it, turning every scene into an unforgettable experience. His talent truly surpassed my expectations, leaving me grateful to have crossed paths with him.”
– Scott Di Lalla (Director, Producer, Cinematographer)
“Ian is a pleasure to work with and an incredible talent. His scores don’t just support my films, they bring them to life. They are the glue that holds the picture together. Ian is always pushing the boundaries of composition, searching for new and unique sounds that make his work stand out. His music adds emotional depth to every scene, making each project fuller and more powerful. I can’t recommend him enough”.
– Ricky Rhodes (Writer, Director, Producer at Rhodes Films)
“Ian has been our go to artist for original music composition for the better part of a decade. I love the creativity and enthusiasm he brings to every project. His kind and cordial disposition is always a joy to work with!”
– Jordan Henderson (Executive Producer, Planet Froth Productions)
“As a filmmaker, working with Ian on our film “Far From Ordinary” was an absolute dream experience. Our collaboration was incredibly smooth and creatively fulfilling. From the outset of our initial conversations, it was clear that we shared a deep passion for music, especially the evocative soundscapes of electronic synth music, which helped fuel our creative process. In our conversations, we delved into the genre and bonded over classic scores and films. We explored how each of the different sonic textures, tones, and melodies could uniquely enhance the emotional core of our film. Ian masterfully translated our shared vision into a truly original score, crafting a musical palette that perfectly complimented the story. He didn’t just score the film; he became a vital partner in shaping its narrative, and brought “Far From Ordinary” to life in ways I couldn’t have imagined. His dedication to understanding the film’s nuances, and his willingness to experiment made the entire process incredibly rewarding. The final score is a testament to his talent and our collaborative synergy. I can’t wait to work with him again, and highly recommend him for your next film project.”
– Paul Bugarin (Writer, Director, Producer)
“My music scoring experience with Ian was very organic and collaborative. He really understands timing and punctuates the cadence of a moment with a rhythmic flow.”
– Alessandro Gentile (Director, Director of Photography)
“As a composer, Ian brings a complete and unique vision to a project. In working with him, I found someone who was not only a very gifted musician and composer, but a partner in the storytelling process. During our sessions, I felt that he wanted me to understand his world and his vision as much as he wanted to understand mine and as a result, both I, and the project, became much more informed and well-rounded. A great collaborator is someone who makes everyone around them more effective and Ian is a fantastic collaborator. There are people who make music and there are people who tell stories, Ian is someone acomplishes both.
– Jason Kurth (Writer, Director, Editor)
“Ian LeCheminant is an incredibly talented composer who has worked on many of our films, always delivering exceptional work. He’s a fantastic collaborator—professional, adaptable, and easy to work with—always willing to refine and adjust to fit the project’s vision. His versatility is unmatched, providing a wide range of musical styles across genres from sci-fi to drama and comedy. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a skilled and reliable composer!”
– Andrea Martina (Actress, Writer, Producer)
“Working with Ian on two short films was a fantastic experience. His approach to scoring was always insightful, and he was eager to dive into deep discussions about the narrative and how music could enhance it. He has a real talent for creating unique, evocative soundscapes that bring a story to life.
For The Decisive Moment, a short film about a photographer capturing a moment in time, I brought my 5×6 film camera to his studio. We recorded the distinct sound of the rewind and shutter, and Ian integrated the recorded sound into the score, giving a unique and deep connection with the story.
Our collaboration was all about in-depth conversations, careful viewings, and a shared vision for the emotional impact of the music. I’d love for others to experience the worlds we created together, and I’d jump at the chance to work with Ian again.”
– Stefano Giorgetti (Director, Writer, Visual Effects)
“First, and foremost, he is a musician. Ian speaks, and understands the language. On top of that his grasp of technology is stunning. I think he breathes this stuff, and passionately keeps up with the latest innovations. Ian explains the process of recording in ways I understand and make sense. He is patient, kind, and refreshingly non-judgmental. We frequently collaborate, sharing, and experimenting with different musical ideas, and this creative process is a real joy!”
– Cali Rose (Singer, Songwriter, Recording Artist)
“I’ve known Ian many years. I’ve depended on him on many occasions for both creative and technical projects. He is organized, creative and incredibly professional. The kind of collaborator you can be in the weeds with. He exudes calmness and order.”
– Michael Mollo (Composer, Songwriter, Owner Velvet Green Music)

I had the pleasure of collaborating with him on a few projects, and the creativity and precision that he displayed in mixing my albums and designing synth patches was a pleasure to behold. He also answered every tech question that I had with ease. Ian is a great person to have on your team in any capacity, so don’t hesitate to reach out to him!”
– Robert Mai (Film, Game, & Podcast Composer)
