Listed above is my entry into the latest 8Dio Score This Contest. I had a ton of fun with this one, mixing and matching various sample libraries exclusively made by 8Dio.
I love the structured freedom to explore that these competitions provide me with. I often find myself integrating in the techniques I try out in these clips into actual commissioned projects down the line. My goal with this entry was to blend sonic elements often seen as elements that occupy their own distinct sonic space into one cohesive piece. For example intimate closed mic’d studio strings with a massive 200 piece choir, dense brass with delicate synth atmospheres and low taiko booms.
At the core of this composition is the Supercluster Sound Set. The following other 8Dio libraries we used as all; CAGE Brass, Lacrimosa Choir, Intimate Studio Strings, Agitato Sordino Strings, Adagietto Strings, The New Alien Drum, Solo Taiko and the Taiko Ensemble. Thanks for watching and listening. Enjoy! I can’t wait to participate in the next one!
One last thing, the vast majority of this composition was composed, mixed, produced and paired with the video on my new portable studio rig centered around a powerful dell XPS 15 laptop. I’m excited to be able to harness the creative power of these amazing composition, music production, and content creation tools, just about anywhere I go moving forward. The entire scoring process of this piece was documented via OBS and I will be releasing some extensive behind the scenes material soon. Stay tuned for more!
